ZANZIBAR HEROES YAPIGWA TAFU

Ali Mohamed Shein (kulia) akizungumza na Ofisa Mtendaji Mkuu, kampuni ya Future Century Ltd, Helene Masanja wakati wa hafla ya kuchangisha fedha kwa ajili ya kuisaidia timu ya soka ya Zanzibar, Zanzibar Heroes iliyofanyika mjini Zanzibar mwishoni mwa wiki. Future Century ndiyo iliyoratibu hafla hiyo ya uchangishaji ambapo jumla ya shilingi 67,981,000 na dola za kimarekani 17,900 zilichangishwa.

ZANZIBAR HEROES FUNDRAISING GALA

The Zanzibar Heroes Fundraising Gala Dinner was held at the beautiful Zanzibar Beach Resort on 26th March, 2011 with his Excellency, Hon. Dr. Ali Mohammed Shein as the guest of honour. The event was a major success with different dignitaries; Speaker House of Representatives, the Regional Commissioner, Major of Mjini Magharib, Chief Justice of Zanzibar, Ministry of Information, Culture, Tourism and Sports, Minister of Infrastructure and communication, Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Ministry of President Office without portfolio, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade to mention a few.

The venue was filled with a vibrant ambiance where sponsors banners where in full display. The sponsors where; Zan Air, Zanzibar Ports Cooperation, People’s Bank of Zanzibar, Zanzibar Insurance Cooperation, SuperSports Africa, Multi-Choice Tanzania, United Petroleum, Zantel, Zanzibar Beach Resort, Zantel, General Agency Limited, New Africa, Affordable Housing, Explore Zanzibar and Vayle Springs Limited.

The CEO, Helene Masanja lead the way to greet the Hon. Dr. Shein followed by the sponsors CEO’s/ Managing Director who were seated together at the high table. The dignified guests seated at the high table were; the Hon. Dr. Ali Mohammed Shein, the Minister of Information, Culture, Tourism and Sports; Abdliahi Jihad Hassan, CEO of Future Century Limited; Helene Masanja, the Regional Commissioner; Abdallah Mwinyi Hamisi, CEO of General Agency Limited; Anvar Rajpar, CEO of Zan Air; Carls Sailsbury, CCO of Zantel: Nahaat Mahfoudh.

The guests were greeted with an opening dance by the Marimba Group and welcomed into the Karume Hall- Zanzibar Beach Resort and more entertainment was from the talented Kazumuska Band which entertained the guests to the late hours of the night. The MC, Taji Liundi motivated the guests to pledge and encouraged bidders to raise funds for the Zanzibar Heroes.

Martha Enock, the project manager of Future Century Sports Limited used their annual presentation of the events and initiatives planned in 2011 as a platform to engage guests and potential sponsors at the initial stages to enable proper planning to accommodate the team.

The National Coach also provided a compelling speech to motivate the guests and potential sponsors to invest in Zanzibar football. The president’s speech also addressed the guests and was proud to be a patron of the Zanzibar Heroes. Hon. Dr. Shein was seen to be in a fantastic mood and he assisted Taji Liundi in the auction and seemed to better at inspiring guests to bid!

Each guest that pledged was given the opportunity to shake hands with the president and had photos taken. Amongst the pledges was Tsh 5,000,000 by Azam Football Club, Tsh 6,000,000 by Carl Salisbury, USD 4,000,000 by Zanzibar Ports Cooperation, and USD 4,000,000 by the People’s Bank of Zanzibar which totalled totalled to Tsh 39,981,000 and USD 8,300.

The auction raised Tsh 28,000,000 and USD 500; where Abubakar Bakhresa bid for jersey signed by the president at the event for Tsh 10,000,000, jersey signed by the Zanzibar Heroes was taken by the Zanzibar Ports Cooperation at Tsh 2,000,000, the PVR Decoder donated by Multi-Choice Tanzania was bid by People’s Bank of Zanzibar at Tsh 2,000,000.

The camera donate by Afforadable Housing was in fact taken by Afforadable Housing at USD 500. The two portraits of the President of Zanzibar, that was signed during the dinner were taken by Zanzibar Beach Resort and Zanibar Ports Cooperation at Tsh 8,000,000 each. Amongst donations in kind include free housing by Ahmada Yahya Wakili for the National Coach Housing at a value of USD 9,600. The total amount of raised during the event was Tsh 67,981,000 and USD 17,900.
