Euroleague Basketball live on SuperSport on DStv

After four months of gruelling regular season action, the 2010/11 Euroleague Basketball season has entered its second stage, the top 16. SuperSport, the World of Champions, will broadcast live matches across the African continent every Thursday night for the remainder of the season.

With games one of the top 16 just about complete, the league is taking on the all too familiar pattern of the top teams setting the pace in their respective groups.

Real Madrid, Panathinaikos, Fenerbahce Ulker and Regal FC Barcelona top the four groups and are expected to do so right into the third stage of the season, the quarterfinal round.

Starting on Thursday, SuperSport will broadcast live Fenerbahce Ulker Istanbul’s visit to Spain to take on Power Electronics Valencia in a group H encounter. Both teams are yet to taste Euroleague glory - Fenerbahce’s best placing was the quarterfinals, which surprised many, and Valencia’s entry into the top 16 is their best showing yet - will want to upset the applecart by surprising all and going all the way to winning the league.

The match is live on SuperSport 7A, 7N and Maximo2 at 10.40pm (EAT) with a repeat on SS 2A on Saturday at 6pm (EAT).

Sports across the world is not complete without African flair, and the Euroleague is no exception with Central Africa Republic’s Romain Sato, Nigeria’s Benjamin Eze and the Senegal duo of Boniface N'Dong and Pape Sow flying the African flag.

In February, Partizan Mt:S Belgrade, Montepaschi Siena, Union Olipija Ljubljana, Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv and Olympiacos Piraeus will headline SuperSport’s live broadcast of Europe’s premier basketball competition on Thursday nights.
